What is included.
What ALCO does for you under domains and DNS, in plain terms.
Registration and renewals
New domains registered, existing ones transferred in, all in your company's name with ALCO as the technical contact. Auto-renew on, expiry dates tracked.
DNS hosting and changes
Records hosted on Cloudflare, changed through the help desk with a record of who changed what. No more "the web guy had the login".
Certificates
TLS certificates issued and renewed automatically for every site and service we manage. The padlock never expires on a weekend.
Email records
MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC set up for Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 and every tool that sends as you, so mail arrives and cannot be forged.
Subdomain clean-up
Old shop., test. and dev. names pointing at hosts you no longer pay for are a takeover risk. We find and remove them.
Cloudflare in front
Every site ALCO hosts sits behind Cloudflare Enterprise: firewall, DDoS protection and caching, with DNS in the same place.
Redirects and extra domains
The .net, the misspelling and the old brand all land on the right site, with the redirects kept when you redesign.
Ownership recovery
Domain registered by an ex-employee or a former agency? We help you get it back into the company's name, and we have done it before.
Free tools
DNS, MX, SPF and DMARC lookups on alcohq.com/tools, and Learning Center videos on reading them. Check any domain yourself.
How it works.
Four steps, each one written down as we go.
- 1
Audit
Every domain you own, where it is registered, who the registrant is, when it expires, and what every record points at.
- 2
Consolidate
Transfers into your name, nameservers to Cloudflare, auto-renew on, stray records removed.
- 3
Set the records right
Mail authentication, certificates, redirects. Checked with the same tools you can use yourself.
- 4
Manage
Changes through the help desk, renewals tracked, and a yearly review of what you still need.
Who this is for.
Anyone unsure who owns their domain
If the answer is "the agency" or "I think it was Dave", start here. We have a free Learning Center video on finding out.
Businesses with a handful of domains
The main one, the .net, the old brand, the campaign site. One list, one renewal date to worry about, which is none.
Firms changing email or hosting
The DNS change is the part that goes wrong. We make it the part that does not.
Questions people ask.
Who owns the domain if ALCO registers it?
You do. The registrant is your company. ALCO is listed as the technical contact so we can manage it, and we hand over full control if you ever leave.
Can you move our domain from GoDaddy or wherever it is?
Yes. Transfers take a few days and do not interrupt the website or email when done in order. We check the records first so nothing changes but the registrar.
Do you charge for DNS changes?
Changes for clients on a help desk, hosting or care plan go through the help desk as part of the service. Standalone work is quoted. Ask us and we will say which applies to you.
What is DMARC and do we need it?
It is the record that tells the world to reject mail pretending to be from you. Yes, you need it. There is a free Learning Center video, and setting it up properly is on the email security page.
Our certificate expired once and the site showed a warning. Why?
Somebody had to renew it by hand and did not. Certificates for sites we manage renew automatically and are monitored, so that does not happen again.
