AI features, private AI, workflow automation and how ALCO uses AI. 14 answers from the ALCO team.
AI development
About this serviceDoes ALCO run its own business on AI?
Not much. We use it for small, minor things, and we are happy to. The business runs on accountable people. That is the same approach we recommend to clients: AI for the repetitive parts, humans for the decisions.
Which models do you use?
Whichever fits the job and your rules: Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, or an open model on hardware you control. We are partners with Anthropic and OpenAI and we are not tied to either.
Where does our data go?
It stays in your accounts. We build against your API keys and your tenants, with data-handling terms you have read. Nothing is trained on your data unless you choose that.
What does it cost?
A fixed scope with a written estimate for the build, then a monthly amount for hosting, monitoring and updates. No per-seat surprises.
Can you add AI to a site or app you did not build?
Usually, yes. We review the codebase and the hosting first and tell you what is realistic before quoting.
Local AI models hosting
About this serviceIs this as good as ChatGPT or Claude?
For many business tasks, open models are more than good enough, and they keep your data private. For the hardest work we can also connect the big providers through their business APIs. We will be honest about which fits.
Where does it run?
On ALCO infrastructure in Idaho, sized for the models you choose. Larger models need more memory and compute; we quote that in writing.
Who can use it?
Whoever you say. Access is behind your company sign-in with two-step sign-in required, and usage is logged.
Can it read our documents?
Yes, with retrieval set up over the folders you choose. It stays on the server.
Can ALCO build on top of it?
Yes. See AI development: people are accountable for the result, the model does the drafting.
n8n hosting
About this serviceWhy self-host instead of n8n Cloud?
Privacy of credentials and data, cost at volume, and the ability to reach systems inside your network. n8n Cloud is fine for some; we will tell you which fits.
Can it talk to our internal systems?
Yes. With a site-to-site connection or an agent, workflows can reach systems that are not on the public internet.
Who builds the workflows?
You, your team, or ALCO. Many clients start with ALCO building the first few and take over from there.
Is it licensed for business use?
n8n is published under its Sustainable Use License, which allows internal business use. We will explain the terms before you build on it.
