Domains and DNS
About this serviceWho owns the domain if ALCO registers it?
You do. The registrant is your company. ALCO is listed as the technical contact so we can manage it, and we hand over full control if you ever leave.
Can you move our domain from GoDaddy or wherever it is?
Yes. Transfers take a few days and do not interrupt the website or email when done in order. We check the records first so nothing changes but the registrar.
Do you charge for DNS changes?
Changes for clients on a help desk, hosting or care plan go through the help desk as part of the service. Standalone work is quoted. Ask us and we will say which applies to you.
What is DMARC and do we need it?
It is the record that tells the world to reject mail pretending to be from you. Yes, you need it. There is a free Learning Center video, and setting it up properly is on the email security page.
Our certificate expired once and the site showed a warning. Why?
Somebody had to renew it by hand and did not. Certificates for sites we manage renew automatically and are monitored, so that does not happen again.
